I'm back from the hiatus. Though other obligations impeded me to make new blog posts, I kept on gathering information on handmade panoramic cameras during the time of inactivity which I always do.
Most notably, I found a plethora of cameras made by Japanese camera makers and I'll soon write about them one by one.
I was planning for long to write a post on books related to DIY camera making and found some very interesting books. I will soon write about them.
I'll also make some posts on non panoramic cameras, particularly on the 6x9 format.
Thanks for your support.
In this photography blog I would be posting about my experiences in photography particularly panoramic photography, various DIY techniques, equipment reviews and information on innovative photographic gadgets. Please read the "Disclaimer" at the right of this page before you proceed further.

A note on broken website links in my blog posts
My blog is more than eight years old now and many of the URLs I've provided went defunct over the years.
It is unfortunate to say the least that so many informative sites can no longer exist. However, for some of them the information can be recovered at least partially if the site has been archived.
For those who don't know how to check if a site is archived, please go to the"Wayback Machine" at
Paste the link in the Wayback Machine text box and check if the site is archieved or not. In some cases you would see multiple snapshots of the page taken at different times. Check for a date/year closest to date of publication of that particular blog post where I mention about the web site. If your lucky you might be able to retrieve some information at least.
Secondly, if you come across any site you think worth archiving, you can submit that web link to the "Save Now" feature of Wayback's archiving tool.
For a detailed method of archiving, please read this information:

Al Satterwhite's "NikonWide" panoramic camera
A few hours ago I received a mail from Olaf Matthes about a handmade 35 mm panoramic camera known as the "NikonWide" and made by the well known photographer Al Satterwhite.
Olaf pointed out an old thread in Photo.net describing some features of the camera. This was an interchangeable lens ( 65 and 135) 24 x 108 , 1:4 aspect ratio camera, made of two fused bodies. The camera also had an accurate self fabricated viewfinder.
Olaf also found a video on the camera, showing example shots and the lens changing procedure. I'll soon go through the book "Satterwhite on Color and Design" which contains some more details on the camera, and post it in my blog.
Check the video , the first half being the Circuit , the classic rotational panoramic camera, the second part contains the details of the "NikonWide".
Many thanks to Olaf Matthes for this info, and motivating me to get out of my year long hibernation. For those who came late, click on Olaf Matthes link to know about his great handmade cameras.

I'll soon be posting about at least 3-4 pano cameras before the end of this year. These will include fused body cameras, stereo to pano converted camera, large format rotational panoramic camera and others.
Wishing you a very happy new year in advance.

Blog Update
I've been a little busy during the past one and half months or so to write any new blog entry. However, I collected information on some very interesting handmade panoramic cameras during this period. I'll write about them very soon, probably in a few days.
Meanwhile you can have a look at Josip Klarica's website, who has a very distinctive style of panoramic photography and a fascinating set of handmade cameras.

Updating my blog
I was a bit busy for the last 2-3 months or so, with my 'professional' activities, unfortunately which is not panoramic photography. As a result I couldn't write as frequently as I was doing earlier. I hope to resume my regular speed and make at least one post per week.
I would much appreciate if you can kindly provide any information regarding film panoramic photography or any novel photographic gadget which you found to be interesting. I'll post about it with due acknowledgment.
